Accreditations and credentials

W. Monks (Longridge) Ltd has built across Lancashire and the North West since the 1930s, and the way we work is backed by recognised building contractor accreditations rather than claims.

Our trades hold current cards and tickets, our managers are formally trained in site safety, and we hold long-standing memberships in the bodies that set the standards we work to.

These accreditations apply across the firm, on every contract, and we are happy to provide copies for tender and pre-qualification packs.

CSCS Gold Standard

Our workforce holds Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) cards, and the company has achieved the Gold Standard under the scheme. A CSCS card confirms that the people on your site have the training and qualifications for the work they carry out, which is a baseline requirement on most commercial, education and public sector contracts.

NICEIC approved contractor

We are NICEIC approved for electrical work, so our electrical installations are assessed against the national wiring standard by an independent body. Because we employ our own electricians, the electrical work on your project carries the same accountability as the rest of the build, with certification provided on completion.

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMTS)

Our site managers hold the Site Management Safety Training Scheme certificate, a nationally recognised site managers’ health and safety qualification. Five of our staff completed SMTS in a single year, so the people running your contract are trained to manage safety on site, not only to build.

Investors in People

W. Monks was recognised as an Investor in People in 2009. The standard reflects how we develop and keep our people, which is why most of our team have been with us for years and many since leaving school.

Preston Construction Safety Association

We are a founder member of the Preston Construction Safety Association and have been since the late 1960s. It is the longest-standing of our memberships and reflects a commitment to safe working in the Preston area that now goes back more than fifty years.

Health, safety and ongoing training

Training does not stop once someone is qualified. In the past year our staff have completed aluminium scaffold erection and asbestos awareness training, and we run apprenticeships in bricklaying, joinery, plastering and electrical work so the next generation of trades learns to our standard.
