About W. Monks
A name that’s meant the same thing for ninety years.
William Monks started the firm in the 1930s. The work has changed, from post-war building to today’s school extensions, healthcare schemes and bespoke joinery, but what the name stands for hasn’t. Quality work, fair dealing, and finishing what we start.
We’re based on the Hacking Hobbs Estate in Longridge, where our yard and fully-equipped joinery workshop sit side by side. From here we deliver contracts of up to 1 million pounds across Lancashire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.
Most of our 38-strong team are tradespeople: builders, joiners, electricians, plasterers and apprentices. Many joined straight from school and have stayed twenty years or more. Read more about our credentials here.

Growing our own.
Skilled trades don’t appear overnight. That’s why we run an active apprenticeship programme across bricklaying, joinery, plastering and electrical, bringing young people into the firm and training them on real projects, alongside tradesmen who’ve been here for decades.
It’s the same reason we were recognised as Investors in People back in 2009: our people are the business.
